Deeley Construction and Exemplar Health Care have delivered a flagship 33-bed care home in Staffordshire, transforming a former car park into a purpose-built facility for adults with complex needs.
In the heart of Staffordshire, on the site of a redundant Avon Road car park, a transformative narrative unfolded as Deeley Construction and Exemplar Health Care united to bring to life Coronation Court- a 33-bedroom, purposebuilt care home for adults with complex needs.
The story began in late 2023, when planning permission was secured to redesign the town centre brownfield site into a vibrant care community. Ground was broken early in 2024 under the stewardship of Deeley Construction— marking the fourth home delivered by the Coventry-based family firm in partnership with Exemplar Health Care. As construction progressed, council leaders from Cannock Chase continued to back the project as a catalyst for local renewal and inclusive growth.
Over the course of the build, the three-storey structure emerged, segmented into three self-contained units to foster intimacy and community. Each of the 33 spacious bedrooms boasts ensuite facilities, promoting dignity and comfort. The home’ s heart lies in its shared spaces: an activity hub, therapy room, hair salon, sensory bathrooms, communal dining and living areas, and a generously landscaped accessible garden— designed to support both wellbeing and rehabilitation.
Sustainability was integral from inception. Solar panels and air source heat pumps were installed to future proof energy usage, and the inclusion of three electric vehicle charging points underlines a commitment to low carbon operations.
As Coronation Court neared completion in late 2024, attention shifted to its human dimension. The facility promised approximately 100 new roles- from registered nurses and unit managers to catering assistants and support staff.
