ST CRISPIN SCHOOL - DINING HALL EXTENSION
The new buildings at St Crispin ’ s secondary school , including a dining room extension , are set to deliver increased school places for Year 7 pupils .
Wokingham Borough Council is working with a number of schools , including St Crispin ’ s School , to provide additional school places , to address the shortfall in secondary Year 7 places .
Enhanced accommodation , with additional classrooms will enable additional pupils to be admitted . Currently , the school has 1,383 pupils , but once the project is completed , it will be able to host a total of 1,562 pupils – an increase of 179 pupils .
By increasing the number of school places for Year 7 pupils , St Crispin ’ s is helping to meet the educational needs of more families in the area . This increase in
capacity is expected to alleviate some of the pressures on the local education system , providing parents with more options and ensuring that children can attend a high-quality local school .
The project includes adding a two-story extension to the current sixth form block , a one-story extension to the dining hall , and a new canopy to enhance navigation and protect people entering and exiting the school from the weather .
The sixth form extension will provide 8 new classrooms to facilitate learning and new subjects taught at sixth form level , including sociology and a broader range of sciences .
