Regency Mews on St Helen ’ s Road in Dringhouses has been designed for people living with dementia and those who require assisted living services .
Abbeyfield York Extra Care Development , more commonly known as Regency Mews , combines elegant design , innovative amenities , and compassionate care to create a vibrant community where residents can thrive and flourish .
Vistry Partnerships Yorkshire is undertaking the construction work on the scheme , which comprises 25 new homes , including 19 for social rent and six for the elderly in the open market . Notably , six of the rental homes are specifically designed for individuals with dementia .
Facilities within Abbeyfield House will provide personal care , catering , and pastoral services . A significant aspect of the design includes new common spaces , such as dining rooms , lounges , and multi-purpose hobby and meeting rooms .
Central to the overall design are two outdoor gardens : one for dementia-friendly living and the other for extra care . A courtyard garden will be located between the two buildings , offering residents and their guests a protected green area to enjoy .
Mark Henderson , from Brewster Bye Architects , which designed the scheme , said : “ Having already worked with Abbeyfield on Fern House , one of the UK ’ s most advanced extra care and dementia centres , close to Bingley town centre , we thoroughly understand how to deliver the very best homes for older people with dementia and those that need extra support .
