Established in 2019 , Roddy New Homes are a family run business forging a reputation for housebuilding excellence in the South Home Counties .
Directors - John and Paul Roddy - have a combined 45 years ’ experience in the industry are hands on within the business and oversee operations side by side with the business ’ s highly experienced team on a daily basis . They liaise directly with customers making sure the build and sale process runs seamlessly up to completion and aftercare .
The business has 15 employees along with 50 -70 external subcontractors and professional teams employed daily .
The business moved into a new regional headquarters in Sevenoaks at the turn of the year and is driven by providing customers with quality-built homes with an emphasis on low carbon construction methods , MMC , low end user running costs , utilising brownfield sites , creating a biodiversity net gain and creating places our customers can call home .
The Scheme is delivering seven shared ownership homes to partners Heylo Housing .
All demolished building and hardstanding were recycled on site to incorporate into the construction of the new scheme .
The re-development allowed for substantial ecological enhancements at the location .
The Development has also provided a new footpath for the Residents to promote sustainable methods of transport it to the village of Minster and has also been greatly received by the existing community .
The scheme will contribute £ 380,000 in contributions to the local community and is due for completion Q1 2024 .
The business ethos is sustainable development - aiming to deliver sustainable carbon neutral housing on brownfield sites in central locations close to existing amenities . This reduces the need to encroach on green belt or agricultural land for housing developments and , as a result , promotes sustainable transport methods .
Roddy New Homes achieve carbon neutral status by recycling existing materials on the derelict sites and reducing cement consumption by 50 %; reducing transport and haulage during construction and implementing modern methods of construction ( MMC ) primarily incorporating Timber Frame structures manufactured from timber grown from sustainable forests .
The Company also install enhanced insulation during builds leaving customers with very energy efficient homes that will be powered by sustainable electricity form the national grid , which is improving year on year form offshore wind , biomass and solar farms .
Recent projects include Hoo Farm Way in Minster , Kent which is a contaminated brownfield site redevelopment consisting of 23 new build timber frame homes and the conversion of two existing agricultural buildings .
Another recent project is the former Cranbrook engineering site in Kent . This contaminated brownfield site redevelopment consists of 27 new build two and three-bedroom homes along with the careful restoration of a Grade II listed cottage .
This site had lay vacant for 14 years , however work on the scheme has just commenced and is scheduled for completion in Q4 2024 .
The scheme will be constructed from timber frame and incorporate air source heat pumps and enhanced levels of insulation to each home to meet Future Homes 2025 requirements .
As part of the redevelopment , a parcel of land has been given to Cranbrook & Sissinghurst Parish Council for the construction of a new community hub .
Substantial ecological enhancement measures are also being incorporated into the new scheme .
The Former Smiths Medical Site on Boundary Road in Hythe , Kent is Roddy New Homes ’ flagship brownfield redevelopment project and is due to commence in Q1 2024 , delivering 97 Homes , 153m2 of commercial space along with a 66-bedroom care home .
