90 New secondary school set to be ready to welcome students from Spring 2023
NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL SET TO BE READY TO WELCOME STUDENTS FROM SPRING 2023
Located on the Kingsland Campus in Houghton Regis , the new Houstone School will be home to over 1,100 students when it opens in spring 2023 .
Designed by Concertus Design and Property Consultants for Central Bedfordshire Council , the site will become home to a new threestorey secondary school , a separate sports hall , an all-weather pitch , standard pitches for outdoor sports , and a new car park .
As an experienced multi-disciplinary design and property consultancy , Concertus cares about the built environment ’ s quality and wants to make a difference in the surrounding communities through their work and Houstone School is no exception . In 2019 , Concertus entered into a partnership arrangement with Central Bedfordshire Council to provide design and project management services .

The design for the school provides an inspiring and high-quality educational building , providing flexibility for the teaching needs of the future . The main contractor , R G Carter , started work on-site in the summer of 2021 , incorporating into the building many of the sustainability principles of the Department for Education ( DfE ) and Central Bedfordshire Council sustainability checklists , aligned with the overall design ethos , to deliver the first new secondary school that the council has built in Houghton Regis .
