Set to open in 2023 , the Dyson Cancer Centre will be the cancer services hub for half a million people in the South West . In March 2022 , a ‘ topping out ’ ceremony was held to mark the completion of the frame of the building and the highest point of the structure .
Libby Walters , RUH Deputy Chief Executive , said : “ The incredible structure will house oncology , chemotherapy , radiotherapy and research teams , the William Budd inpatient team and nuclear medicine and physics teams as well as a team to support the dedicated on-site pharmacy .
“ The next project milestone to look forward to will be this summer , when the finished building is handed over to the RUH , ready for fitting out . With much of the scaffolding around the Dyson Cancer Centre now removed , the three-storey glass atrium that will provide the main entrance to the building is now clearly visible . This area will also house the Macmillan Wellbeing Hub , funded by Macmillan Cancer Support . The hub will provide a non-clinical , calming space where patients , families and carers can receive practical and emotional support .”
Libby continued : “ It ’ s very exciting to kick off 2023 knowing that this is the year the Dyson Cancer Centre will welcome patients and their loved ones .
