Jerram Falkus Construction Limited is part of the Jerram Falkus Group whose origins lie with two companies : William J Jerram Limited and Falkus Construction Limited .
William J Jerram Limited was founded in 1884 by James William Jerram , trading under his own name . The name was changed in 1934 when William J Jerram , his Grandson and the late Grand Father of the current Managing Directors , assumed control .
Over the years the company growth was steady , rather than spectacular , with an emphasis on quality rather than quantity . Throughout its trading history William J Jerram ’ s activities dealt with the varied needs of the community . A great variety of works were carried out but with a particular involvement in new building .
Falkus Construction Limited was founded in 1919 as Contractors in the City of London with premises in Folgate Street . The company , whilst carrying out works further afield , concentrated most of it ’ s business within the City area gaining the high level of experience which exists to this day .
The grouping together of these two companies enabled each to compliment the other . The resultant combined strength enables the Group to carry out a vast range of works in the knowledge that the management and technical experience necessary for this exists within the organisation .
The spectrum of work carried out embraces both new build and refurbishment of commercial , industrial , residential , educational , healthcare and other public sector buildings . Projects are carried out in both occupied and unoccupied environments .
Today the Group is a soundly based multi faceted organisation able collectively to offer a sound and well organised construction ability to any form of building .
Apart from carrying out projects using traditional contracting arrangements , the company is able to provide a design-build service for all types of building works . Full ‘ turnkey ’ projects can be undertaken when relevant to a busy Client ’ s needs .
In addition to General Contracting the Company also manufactures and fixes high quality bespoke Joinery as part of Company Interiors projects and as Specialist Contractors . Joinery manufacture uses both traditional and modern methods of fabrication and finishing and is carried out at the Company ’ s extensive workshops in Shoreditch , Hackney . This is probably the largest facility of its kind remaining in Central London .
Contracting works are carried out in most of the London Boroughs and throughout the South East of England .
A fine example of the company ’ s work can be seen at the site of Ark Soane , a £ 52m design and build scheme for Countryside and the Department for Education . One of our largest construction projects in recent years , the scheme will see the creation of a combined education and residential development in Acton .
LocatED Property Ltd , an arms-length body to the Department for Education , acted for the landowner ( the Secretary of State for Education ), as part of their role to secure sites and buildings for new schools in order to deliver much needed school places .
The mixed-use project will see the construction of two x 7 storey tower blocks and one x 12 storey tower block , reaching 70m tall , including a basement level . The ground , first and second floors will accommodate phase 2 of Ark Soane Academy , a new 1,200 place secondary school . 113 residential properties will be constructed on the upper levels , in addition to three separate town houses that will be built on the site .
A large proportion of the new homes are being constructed for the Greater London joint venture between Sigma Capital Group plc , the build-to-rent specialist , and its partner , EQT Exeter , part of global investment firm , EQT , and will be for the private rental market .
