ARDMORE - HAMMERSMITH TOWN HALL
In just 40 years Ardmore has become one of the largest family owned construction groups in the UK . Although they work across the nation they ’ re best known as London ’ s builder .
Ardmore have been involved in hundreds of major projects across London , including landmark buildings that have shaped the face of the capital . They were the first tier-one contractor at the Athlete ’ s Village in the Olympic Park .
Ardmore built the Corinthia Hotel from a shell . Theye ’ re lead contractor for the multiphase regeneration of Heathside & Lethbridge and a tier-one contractor for Greenwich Peninsula . Ardmore build homes , hotels , schools , medical centres , parks , playgrounds – every facility the great city needs . And they do it with passion . With sensitivity . With style .
Ardmore are very hands-on – throughout the company – and their directors and senior managers are always deeply involved . They have great respect for the trades and great relationships with the professions . Clients , employees and sub-contractors appreciate their direct , no nonsense approach .
Ardmore has been appointed by Hammersmith & Fulham Council and their JV partners A2Dominion , as their delivery partner for Hammersmith Civic Campus , a major new mixeduse development in West London .
Construction has already begun on the £ 155m main contract , which will see Ardmore refurbish and extend the existing
Grade II-listed Town Hall building to provide over 15,000 sqm of state of the art office and public space , alongside delivering 204 new homes and over 10,000sqm of commercial space .
The refurbishment of the existing Town Hall is at the heart of the Civic Campus scheme . Alongside the sensitive interventions to existing heritage elements , Ardmore are creating an additional 4,500sqm internal area within a contemporary three-storey ‘ Glass Box ’ extension .
Comprising 1,300 tonnes of structural steel , the new ‘ Glass Box ’ sits above the existing Town Hall , supported on a series of 15-metre-high stilts that punch down through the existing building and courtyard , bridging over a major sewer that runs beneath the building . The newly enclosed courtyard provides additional internal space for a new glazed scenic lift and link bridges , opening up the existing building and provide new connections .
As well as incorporating cutting-edge environmental technology , the Civic Campus is set to become one of the most accessible series of buildings anywhere in the world . Building on the extensive engagement carried out through early project stages with local stakeholders like the independent Disabled People ’ s Commission , Ardmore ’ s team will apply their delivery expertise to ensure the development provides a world-class accessibility offer .
