Customer Annual Review 2016 | Page 4

This has been another financially tough year for many of you and we know that challenges such as understanding and dealing with welfare reform, budgeting issues and being able to afford to run your home are ones that many of you face on a daily basis.

Last year we said that we were recruiting more money advisors to help you to maximise your income and we’re delighted to say that we now have seven new advisors who are accredited and FCA licensed, meaning that they are qualified to offer money advice.

Our money advisors are here to offer advice on all sorts of money-related things and their non-judgemental approach has helped a number of customers deal with situations that they might have avoided talking to anyone about previously. As they say, ‘prevention is better than cure’ and we’ve already seen our money advisors building trust with customers so that they feel comfortable enough to open up about their financial difficulties – allowing us to offer the help and advice they needed rather than getting involved by simply chasing rent arrears.

Over the last 6 months alone, the money advisors have provided advice to more than 375 customers resulting in an overall reduction in debt of £166,336

If you’re entitled to claim welfare benefits you will have noticed the continued changes to the benefits available to you and the way you receive them. This trend is set to continue with Universal Credit being rolled out to more areas over the coming months and the Benefit Cap being introduced in autumn 2016.

These changes can be worrying and confusing so we’re working hard to ensure that all our colleagues understand what they mean for every customer, so that we’re in a position to work with you to help manage your budget.

Where appropriate we’re also working to campaign against some of the changes, lobbying MPs and Ministers in the Government. You can read more about that here.
