Your

community.

Strong communities are built by the people who live within them. All of us have skills, talents and something to add to our community – the key is to spot it! Our aim over the coming year is to work with more of you to help identify those local gems and to help you achieve your goals by focusing on what’s strong within you and your neighbourhoods.

We believe that by bringing you together with other like-minded people great things can be achieved both individually and as a group and that’ll be part of the neighbourhood coach’s role, that you can read more about on page 2

Read the story of Ian, Gemma and Janet to see how even the little conversations and connections you have with the neighbourhood coach, can be a big deal.

To read more about our approach to connecting communities and the thinking behind it take a look at a blog by Bromford’s John Wade – who encourages you to seek out the superheroes in your community. Click here

Of course it’s not always the obvious benefits that are felt by communities when they’re better connected.

During a test of the neighbourhood coach role, prior to us launching it across our operating area, one of the interesting things we saw is that when there is an issue in a community, such as ASB, people were much more likely to nip it in the bud by having a conversation with their neighbour, rather than seeking more formal intervention from Bromford. And of course, because the neighbourhood coach also knew everyone a little better, it makes it easier for us to understand what the real issue is. You can read more about this in our colleague Luisa’s blog. Click here.

But it’s not just the coaches who are helping to make your communities stronger, safer and cleaner.

Following concerns raised by customers in Wolverhampton our landscaping team removed the hedges from around a car park after being told that the poor visibility made people feel vulnerable, especially when they were returning home at night. Litter picking, weed killing and the cutting back of trees blocking street lights are more examples of how the landscaping team are working hard to keep your neighbourhoods as clean and safe as possible.
