Curvz Mag: What are some of your goals as a model?
Sheila: As a model, I'd love to work with major plus-size brands
Torrid, Lane Bryant, and Modcloth. I've been shopping at their
stores since my early twenties and it would be very special for me
to see myself, a loyal customer, modeling for their brand. I'd also
like to create a program to mentor young models and create
workshops on posing and bookings. That'd be very meaningful for
me to support other women on their journey.
Curvz Mag: What are some of your interests outside of modeling?
Sheila: I love supporting local, PoC, and small business owners. I
volunteer my time as the Communications Coordinator for Frida
Friday ATX, a local organization that amplifies WoC businesses
and entrepreneurs through monthly curated markets and events.
We strive to make the work of WoC seen because there are great
designers and craft makers that deserve to be recognized. I also
enjoy cooking and blogging. I love to write about body positivity
and my life as a plus-size woman from dating to personal growth. I
find it allows me to connect with other women who are also facing
similar challenges in being fat and unapologetic.
Curvz Mag: So what is next for you?
Sheila: I am working on taking the next step as an entrepreneur to
offer styling services. And, I want to create designs for apparel and
accessories for my brand La Divina Latina. It's something I have
always been interested in, and 2020 is going to be a great year to
kick-off those projects!
