FINE ARTS COURSES:

218 | PRODUCTION & PERFORMANCE FOR STAGE & SCREEN 0.5 CREDIT

This course introduces students to the creative and technical processes behind both live theatre and filmed media. Students will learn acting fundamentals, design techniques, stage movement and collaborative scene work while also exploring backstage roles such as lighting and sound technology, set and prop construction, and basic costume and design elements. Alongside these theatrical components, students will gain experience in modern media practices including camera framing, video editing, and short-form content creation. Through hands-on projects, students will rotate through performance and production roles to create staged scenes and film-based work, developing a broad understanding of how storytelling comes to life on stage and through the camera. No experience is required; students may tailor their interests toward performance, design, or media. The course strengthens communication, creativity, collaboration, and visual literacy, serving as an engaging entry point into theatre, film, and multimedia production. This course is open to students in grades 9-12.
