IN ONTARIO CURRICULUM CHOICES ARE STRICTLY CONTROLLED. THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SETS OUT A LIST OF APPROVED CURRICULUM PROVIDERS CALLED THE TRILLIUM LIST. THE EDUCATION STANDARDS ARE LAID OUT IN A SERIES OF DOCUMENTS THAT TELL US WHAT A STUDENT SHOULD BE LEARNING AT A GIVEN LEVEL OF EDUCATION.

IN CALIFORNIA THE RULES ABOUT INDIVIDUAL CURRICULUM PROVIDERS ARE LESS STRINGENT, HOWEVER THE STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT LAYS OUT EXPECTED LEARNING GOALS. WITH THE EXPECTED LEARNING GOALS AND THE COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS IN MIND, WE OFFER A WELL-ROUNDED CURRICULUM THAT KEEPS OUR STUDENTS STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE. CALIFORNIA STUDENTS CAN TAKE THE CAT (CALIFORNIA APTITUDE TEST)

Christian Education materials are not generally approved by school boards. Choose a full Christian education stream or choose to take bible classes separately from the common core. Taking Bible classes separately from common core is a popular option used in Catholic schools to meet State and Provincial curriculum standards while still providing a biblical education to students.

Homeschoolers The Academy is an internationally accredited online institution with live classes offered online. Homeschoolers who wish to teach their children at home but would still like to be a part of the Academy are able to enroll for single courses, attend trips, access curriculum materials and testing. We do not offer a student record or report card to homeschooling students. We do provide information/referrals.

Our curriculum is now divided into separate sections for Canadian and US students to make curriculum easier to find. In Canada, we teach based on the Ontario Curriculum requirements. Canadian parents can find the Ontario Standards at this link: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/elementary/grades.html. All of our curriculum is approved based on the trilium list, which is a list of curriculum providers/textbooks approved for use in Ontario public schools and recommended for use in private schools by the Ontario government. In the U.S. we teach based on the California standards. The State standards document is available here: http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/documents/finalelaccssstandards.pdf. Wherever possible, our textbooks are approved by the state.
