PARIS AGREEMENT
AN OVERVIEW OF THE BIGGEST CLIMATE POLICIES TO IMPACT OUR FUTURE
BY BEATRICE K .
Main Goals :
• To bring nations together to fight climate change
• To keep global temperature rise well below 2 ° C ( above pre-industrial levels )
• To pursue measures to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 ° C
• To strengthen all countries ’ abilities to combat climate change through mitigation of emissions and transparency
While the Paris Agreement won ’ t “ solve ” climate change , its goal of keeping the global surface temperature rise below 1.5 ° C is ambitious . Every five years , members of the agreement will meet , assess collective progress toward goals of the agreement , report countries ’ actions against climate change , and adapt national plans . Each country ’ s plan ranges in scope and ambition , but the Paris Agreement provides templates to measure progress against climate change
( read template here ).
