Faithful AWCH Member Karen P . Revisits Hamburg

When looking back at the membership archives , it ’ s rare to find someone who has continued to be a member of our club after moving away . Karen is that woman ! While living here , Karen was an active member who was the AWCH president in 1999 and 2000 , as well as being involved with FAWCO . She is still a dedicated member of the film group , attending the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals and serving as one of the layout editors for our film magazine .
When Becky T . heard that Karen was coming to town , she lost no time in organizing a wonderful film luncheon at EAT restaurant in Gänsemarkt . It turned out to be the perfect location , since the entire upstairs was free for our group to meet . We were 14 ladies , and after having such a long pause due to COVID-19 , we
could finally get together and talk about films . We discussed our coverage during the pandemic , rules around attending the press showings , our plans for a new website , upcoming festivals , the Oscar party at Nancy T .’ s house , and what lies in the future for our group .
Our next meeting will coincide with Filmfest Hamburg , where we hope to see Rose F ., who also is no longer living in Hamburg but has been our guiding light through the pandemic . She not only runs the film group but has been responsible for many of the layouts of the film magazines for the last two years . I think I can speak for the entire group when I say that it was so lovely to see people face to face .
