A Rick Case Habitat Commu-
nity
Officials said it took several
years to purchase the vast
space, one acre at a time. But
the plot is set and the City of
Pompano Beach will once again
partner with private corporations
to provide affordable housing.
Albeit, in the Northwest side
again. Car dealership owners
Rick and Rita Case, donated
$500,000 to the project and it will
be name for the couple.
Future homeowners and Habi-
tat volunteers will soon begin
working together to build the 77
residences. Donations from the
Cases and others, including
WSVN, helped clear one of the
toughest obstacles: finding prop-
erty to build on. “It’s becoming
less and less affordable. That
drives prices up, and so we’re
really excited to see so many
people coming together to make
this possible,” said Habitat of
Broward CEO Jonathan Reck-
ford.
Construction is scheduled to
begin near the Hopewell Mission-

Confluence
017 Seems like the year
from hell with the conver-
gence of events in the last nine
months.
The American Electoral sys-
tem was again upset by a large
divergence of the popular vote
and the electoral vote.
Cities have exploded with
racial tension between law
enforcement and citizens.
And Mother Nature is really
upset and seemingly trying to rid
the planet of the human species.
Again. At least She entertained
us pre-storms with a solar
eclipse.
Then again, we’ve seen the
same type of periods in the past
we’ve come out strong as a
nation, on the other side of the tri-
als.
