AMENDMENT 6: VOTE NO Rights of Crime Victims; If passed, the amend- ment would give a handful of rights, including the expectation of being “reasonably protected from the accused,” the right to have their safety considered when judges set bail and the right to be heard at public trial proceedings. But this issue is bundled with another that would raise the required retirement age for judges from 70 to 75, and require judges to not consider a state agency’s interpretation of a law when interpreting the law themselves. Most Florida sheriffs support the amendment because it beefs up victims’ rights.
