Warrior Women
History is a record of the
events that have taken place in
the past and of the people who
shaped them. It is not surprising
that the stories of the poor, the
sick, the underprivileged and the
persecuted often go unrecorded.
Aside from some exceptional
cases, women have played a
minor role in the chronicles of
history. The reasons for their rare
appearances have both cultural
and religious roots. If a society
considers females less worthy
than males and if religion sanctions such discrimination, then
women are relegated to an inferior position.
If we look carefully, history
does relate tales about exceptional women who have made
outstanding contributions in government, literature, education,
health care, research and much
more. There are even a few
remarkable women who have
entered the male world of combat.
These women consider
themselves warriors, bound by
the same rules as their male
counterparts.
