So, in an era when the NW CRA is in jeopardy of losing access to half its funding, is it a prudent idea to go into $100 million debt? Or maybe it is great timing. The GO Bond monies can be used to fund the planned CRA projects, if the court judge- ment goes against the City; the blight can still be removed. With, as the city proclaims, “current and future residents and businesses paying the bill.” Recommendations: Ballot Question No 1. Streets, Sidewalks, Bridges and Streetscaping – Vote Yes, if only for the hopes that the money will indeed be invested in under- ground utilities. Ballot Question No 2. Parks, Recreation and Leisure Activities – Vote No. The Pier can be replaced under a revenue bond paid by user fees and adja- cent businesses which benefit from its patronage. Ballot Question No 3. Public Safety Projects – Vote Yes. Public Safety is a good use of GO Bonds. After the election, if it is approved. Buy City of Pompano Beach GO Bond Munis!
