Located just north of Fort Lauderdale, in the heart of Florida'sGold Coast, the City of Pompano Beach is home to some of the warmest and clearest waters, welcoming golden fine sandy beaches and calming breezes. It's the perfect place for a beach vacation, with lots of sun, fun and adventure. Enjoy exciting water sports, from deep sea fishing, scuba diving to paddle boarding or a game of sand volleyball, use the fitness equipment, there are playgrounds, picnic areas, and an interactive water fountain all over- looking the ocean! The public beach is guarded seven days a week from 9:00 am - 4:45 pm and 6:45 pm during daylight saving time. All are welcome. Getting here is easy Air - Fly into Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Pompano Beach is only 16 miles north, just off Interstate 95. For those arriving into Miami International Airport, Pompano Beach is 38 miles north, off Interstate 95. By private plane, fly directly into Pompano Beach Air Park. Driving - From Interstate 95 take Exit 36 Atlantic Blvd, Exit 38 Copan's Road or Exit 39 Sample Road. From the Florida Turnpike take Exit 69 Sample Road. Railway/Bus - Visitors taking Amtrak, your station will be Deerfield Beach or Fort Lauderdale. For local Tri-Rail visitors, Pompano Beach station is your stop. If you prefer bus, it's Greyhound to the Fort Laud- erdale station. Parks & Recreation Parks - Pompano Beach has some of the most beautiful parks in the County throughout the City. One of which is the ever popular Community Park (I-6) offering a ton of family fun activities from BBQ grills to volleyball. Adjacent is the 4.4 mile paved Air Park Jogging Track and Canine Corner Dog Park (I-5). Pools – The Pompano Beach Aquatic Center (H-6) Olympic size pool is 50 meters by 25 yards, with two one-meter spring boards. The other 25 meter pool is perfect for an easy swim. The Houston/Sworn Aquatic Center (E-5) hosts nine 25-yard lap lanes with two one-meter spring boards. Community Cen- ters - The Emma Lou Olson Civic Center (H-6) offers a variety of organized activities for all, from aero- bics, yoga, zumba and line dancing to fencing.
