the Archaeopteryx lithographica, the Museum’s most
valuable treasure. This 147- million-year-old fossil
(pronounced ark-ee-OPT-er-ix) is the earliest known
of a bird transitioning from its dinosaur heritage.
Found in Germany in 1861, Archaeopteryx demon-
strates a feathered animal with the capacity for flight
(per its brain imprint), while having the teeth, claws,
and bony tail of a dinosaur.
Prepare to enjoy all that London has to offer, with
