watches to stop crime. In the campaign against child
kidnapping, he uses the catchy phrase stranger dan-
ger to warn children not to talk to strangers or to get
in a car with them.
Since 1978, McGruff has turned his attention to
social problems such as bullying at school and
online, substance abuse and gang violence. In order
to improve relations between local communities and
law enforcement, police officers sometimes dress up
in McGruff costumes.
These two super mascots prove that a picture is
sometimes worth a thousand words!
