What’s the best time to go to bed? An old adage
tells us that early to bed and early to rise makes a
man healthy, wealthy and wise. Some people, how-
ever, don’t like to go to bed with the chickens. Others
simply can’t fall asleep until it’s late. The sleep-wake
cycle of their body clock follows a different schedule.
Dr. Michael Breus, a well-known sleep specialist,
uses catchy animal names to describe four sleep-
wake cycles.
Lions are morning people. They go to bed early,
and wake up with lots of energy. By evening, how-
ever, they are so tired that they retire early.
Wolves are night owls. They love to stay up until
the wee hours because that’s when they work and
think best. They get up late, and are slow to get
moving, but as the day goes on, their energy level
rises.
