The Great Unwinding
Who could have predicted that another“ actor” could take the reins of Ronald Reagan ' s“ Moral Majority” and drive the buggy through the middle of and run down America ' s political system with the assistance of Reagan ' s mortal enemy Russia.
America, like most civilizations, tends to extremes as the pendulum of social movements cut a wide swath through time and personal beliefs.
Western societies pushed the pendulum far to the Left with LGBT rights as urban population mores shift quicker than its rural counterparts. Perhaps that helps explain the popularity of the“ Hamilton” Broadway show.
So, the swing back to the Middle for the pendulum has begun and after an over-correction, it will settle somewhere near equi- librium.
Or, the events foretold by prophets may end Western Civilization as we know it.
Bulgarian peasant Baba Vanga, who is also said to have predicted global warming and the sinking of the Russian Kursk submarine, as well as that the U. S. 44th President would be Black and he will be the LAST AMERICAN PRESIDENT.
All jesting aside, the real threat to our“ way of life” comes from dismantling the humanitarian policies of the federal government and perhaps the entire system.
The first humanitarian policies being the Great Depression generated New Deal from President Franklin Roosevelt, and its analog, The Great Society from Lyndon Johnson. Another is the Environmental Protection Act by

Act of 1969
This was one of the first laws that established the legislative framework for protecting the environment. It also created the Presidential Council on Environment within the executive office. President Nixon signed the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 on Jan. 1, 1970. Created the EPA in 1970 The Environmental Protection Agency was formed in December 1970 after President Nixon submitted a plan to Congress calling for the creation of the agency. The EPA writes and enforces rules governing human health and the environment.
