Jen Swope, Isle’ s director of marketing operations, believes the casino and harness racing will operate as usual during construction. The development could represent a massive addition to South Florida’ s casino scene.
Eldorado is developing the property in a 50-50 joint venture partnership with the Cordish Companies, whose portfolio includes the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, the redevelopment of the 223-acre property with a mixed-use project. Plans at 777 Isle of Capri Circle, include new retail, restaurants, entertainment, a corporate office campus, residential and a hotel. The specific details of the project were not disclosed, but the announcement said the new buildings would complement the existing harness racing track and casino.
Cari Furman, a spokesperson for Baltimore-based Cordish, said there would be no comment beyond the news release. The private company, which dates back to 1910, has worked on projects such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, and Baltimore’ s Inner Harbor.
