is an incredible opportunity to complement our exist-
ing gaming and racing facilities on the site and will
become a vibrant destination for visitors to South
Florida.”
Jen Swope, Isle’s director of marketing opera-
tions, believes the casino and harness racing will
operate as usual during construc-
tion. The development could rep-
resent a massive addition to
South Florida’s casino scene.
Eldorado is developing the
property in a 50-50 joint venture
partnership with the Cordish
Companies,
whose portfolio
includes the Seminole Hard Rock
Hotel and Casino, the redevelop-
ment of the 223-acre property
with a mixed-use project. Plans
at 777 Isle of Capri Circle, include
new retail, restaurants, entertain-
ment, a corporate office campus,
residential and a hotel. The spe-
cific details of the project were not
disclosed, but the announcement
said the new buildings would
complement the existing harness
racing track and casino.
Cari Furman, a spokesperson
for Baltimore-based Cordish, said
there would be no comment
beyond the news release. The
private company, which dates
back to 1910, has worked on proj-
ects such as the Seminole Hard
Rock Hotel & Casinos in Holly-
wood and Tampa, and Baltimore’s
Inner Harbor.
