It's hard to believe that summer is already half over and City of Hope is gearing up for the 2016-17 season. Perhaps you'd like to join us in our efforts to raise funds for research to put an end to cancer, diabetes and other hard to cure diseases. If you're interested in helping us in our efforts, you can contact our membership chairlady, Carole Weinberg (954) 973-0543. Our chapter has not been asleep this summer. On Wednesday, July 13th, over 60 members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of lunch and Bingo, at the Skolnick Center. Our thanks to Bette and Marvin Heidenrich, Carmen Rachwal and Carole Weinberg, with a special thank you to the angels who sponsored the event. On Sunday & Monday, July 24th and 25th, some of our members boarded a bus that took them to Ft. Myers for an overnight stay. They had a great time shopping, going to a dinner-theater, gambling, eating and more. Most of all, they enjoyed the camaraderie that existed. We shared the bus with members of Friends of Brandeis and the King's Point Hadassah. Thanks go to Esther Silver and GiGi Palais for organizing the trip. On Sunday, July 31st, we had matinee tickets to see “Capitol Steps”. A good time was had by all who attended. Joan Toll was chairlady and organizer of the afternoon. Many thanks to her. Still ahead, before summer is officially gone for this year, is the musical, “Blame it on the Movies”. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th at 2 p.m, at the Stage Door Theater. If you're interested in attending, call Joan Toll (954) 974-9905. Our first Board Meeting of the new season will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 10 a.m., at the Skolnick Center. Everyone is welcome to attend and to share their ideas. Come and see how we function and get involved in helping those who need it. Start saving your new or nearly new items for our White Elephant Sale, which will be on October 9th at the Skolnick Center. Our chapter will set up tables of merchandise for sale to the public. We are asking you to find a place in your apartment to store the “stuff” until the day of the sale. We need your coopcontinued on page 24 > 23 LAW OFFICES OF MARTIN ZEVIN, P.A.
