That is how the Press Release from the City of Pompano Beach begins and proceeds to inform the citizens that another tax is being imposed for access to pub- lic land. Someone will have to explain to me how a locked fence will prevent whatever heinous crimes are being committed on the property. In the past, the same language and logic was used to install a security camera at the Dog Park, because cars were being broken into while the driv- ers were distracted by their canines. What's next? Golfers being abducted? The memberships will be enforced by a new entrance gate, access will only be granted via key fob. Key fobs will be given at the time of membership pur- chase and stay active until their expiration date. Canine Park Membership Costs: Resident: Annual - $30 for 1 dog; $5 for additional dog. Six Month - $20 for 1 dog; $5 for additional dog. Weekly - $10 for 1 dog; Daily - $5 for additional dog. Non-resident's pay double the fee for each membership. A vari- ety of memberships will be avail- able to fit any person's need to include yearly, six month, weekly and daily. In efforts to educate the public and kick off the memberships, the City of Pompano Beach Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department will be hosting a Bow Wow Launch Paw-ty taking place on Saturday, April 22nd from 9am - 12pm at the Canine Corner Dog Park. Residents and visitors will be able to apply for their membership at the Paw-ty and receive 3 months free added on to their membership. If you can't make the party, don't worry, you will be able to register for the Dog Park at the Aquatics Center, located at 820 NE 18th Avenue.
