Whether they knew it or not, shoe repairmen and
shoemakers in the early 20th century practiced
pedorthics in a general sense. Through trial and error,
they came up with innovative ways to help people
walk, and tried to correct foot problems through shoe
therapy. Some ideas worked, some didn’t.
