HOW THAT DIRECTLY AFFECTS PEDORTHISTS

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) recently released two items
that directly affect pedorthists. They are the
establishment of a new HCPCS procedure
code for shoe inserts that are milled instead
of fabricated over a positive model for
patients with diabetes and updated quality
standards for suppliers of Durable Medical
Equipment (DME), which is how pedorthists
are classified. I will tackle each separately.
