THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR WINTER
Blizzards in Nebraska can lead to unexpected power outages and conditions that
make restoring power more difficult. Our line crews will always try to get your
power back on as quickly as possible, but it’s best for you to be prepared in case
you’re without electricity for an extended period of time.
1. Beat the storm to the punch. Find your electrical service panel, learn how to
operate the main circuit breaker and put a basic emergency kit — a supply of
water, non-perishable foods, flashlights, batteries, blankets and a first aid kit —
together. If you need power for medical equipment, buy a generator and learn
how to install and operate it safely.
2. Safeguard your stuff. Protect your household appliances and sensitive
electronic devices from damaging power surges by either unplugging devices
you’re not using or installing surge protectors or suppressors.
3. Update your info with LES. The best way you can help us during an outage is
to report yours with LES PowerLine, our outage call management system that
matches your phone number with your service address. Make sure you’re not
reporting an outage at an old address by keeping your customer profile current
— visit LES.com/report-outage to update your info now.
DID YOU KNOW?
We put more than $300,000 into our Energy Assistance Program last year and
worked with the Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders
Counties to keep power on for families in need.
Households that need assistance can work with an advocate at Community
Action who then coordinates with our customer service team to see if they
qualify for program funds.
