Sun for everyone: Virtual Net Metering at the LES solar array Upon completion in 2016, the LES community solar array was the first utility-scale solar installation in the state of Nebraska. Today it remains one of the largest in the region, generating 5 megawatts DC of solar energy. payment plans available on your LES bill. Best of all, you'll receive a monthly energy credit to lower your bill without having to install solar panels on your property. Through Virtual Net Metering at the LES community solar array, all LES customers — regardless of whether they rent or own — have the opportunity to switch to solar without installation or upkeep. You can purchase a full “virtual” panel for $640* and receive energy credits every month for the remaining life of the 20-year program, ending in 2036, or purchase a half panel for $320*. You can also sign up for 36-month follow you to your new service address. If you move outside of LES’ service territory, the program allows you to receive a refund, generally equal to 75% of the panel’s purchase price at that time. You can also go solar by signing up for LES SunShares, a community initiative to support solar energy in the Lincoln area. You can participate in the program by adding a contribution ($3 minimum) on top of your monthly electric bill. MOVING? LES’ Sustainable Energy Program helps to lower demand on our community’s electric system by offering incentive funds to help customers make energy-smart upgrades to their homes and businesses. Established in 2009, the SEP has helped community members choose eco-friendly upgrades from LED lighting, heat pumps and air conditioning to energy-efficiency systems for commercial and industrial facilities. Altogether, it helps LES meet the growing demands of the Lincoln area and delays the cost of needing to build another power plant.
