2019 DUCT INSTALLATION PROJECT OPEN HOUSE 4-7 p.m. • Sept. 6 • Walter A. Canney Service Center (2620 Fairfield St.) One of the ways we continue to deliver safe, reliable and affordable power with the best service possible is staying proactive, and that’s been our approach to addressing aging infrastructure. In 2012, we began a 10-year project to place duct (plastic pipe) adjacent to approximately 600 miles of LES’ underground cable throughout our service territory. Installing the underground duct allows for quick replacement of the existing cable (30-50 years old) as it begins to fail. LES is holding an open house to outline and discuss the areas that will be impacted by LES’ Duct Installation Project in 2019. POWER Here’s BEHIND a THE SWITCH bright idea! DID YOU KNOW? A nationwide study revealed our 2018 residential and commercial rates are among the most affordable in the nation, ranking eighth lowest out of 100 cities surveyed nationwide and keeping millions of dollars in our local economy. LES’ 2018 National Electric Rate Study evaluated 100 utilities (76 investor-owned, 24 municipal/public power) in cities with populations greater than 100,000, including at least one city from each state in the U.S. Within the overall rankings, LES improved its position for residential rates, climbing from 10th in 2017 to sixth this year with rates 31 percent lower than the study average. The impact of lower bills for our community, when compared to the study’s national average, saves LES residential customers more than $35 million per year.
