Cumberland Valley Football Program (Digital Version) 2017 CVHS Football Program | Page 3
Friday night lights. Crisp, cool air. Fans filling the stands to support their team. It must be high
school football season! On behalf of Cumberland Valley School District, it is a privilege and an
honor to welcome you to Chapman Field, Home of the Eagles.
CV takes tremendous pride in providing our students with the academic rigor necessary to be
successful in college, the military, or the workforce, and also in providing opportunities to learn
valuable life lessons through athletics, extra-curricular activities, and community service. The
“real world” not only demands that our graduates are academically prepared, but also that
they can lead and follow, are self-disciplined, responsible, and accountable, and that they are
problem solvers who have the ability to foster their own sense of pride in commitment and
hard work. While some of these lessons can be taught in our classrooms, they are often best
taught on our fields, tracks, courts, gymnasiums, stages, and in the community through service
of others.

As parents, teachers, coaches, and fans we gather here to support what our children do
tonight, but in the end it is not about the outcome of this event. Rather, it is about the type of
adults and citizens that we want our children to become. It is the belief in the value of our
children’s future that binds CV together and makes our community and our schools strong and
proud.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Go Eagles!

Greetings:
Whether it is the warm evenings of late summer, the cool nights of early fall or just the cold days
as winter approaches, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to Chapman Stadium. We
do enjoy turning on the lights and hosting Friday night football. Thanks go out to all of those that
support our program and make our events possible. To all of our spectators, we are glad to have
you with us this evening; and to our visitors, a special welcome.

Head Coach Mike Whitehead has certainly made an impact leading our football program. He
continues the rich storied traditions that signify Cumberland Valley Football. After the many hours
of devoted practice and preparation, Mike, his staff and the players’ are set to have their talents
on display tonight. We remain proud of our program along with its hard-earned respect from our
community.
As always, good sportsmanship is expected not only of the students and athletes but of all of
us in attendance this evening. Excitement and intensity are a part of the game, but we all must
model the same high standards that we expect from our students and athletes. Thank you in
advance for being a part of this effort.
Thank you for making this scholastic competition a priority. Enjoy the game. We hope to see you
return to CV for future events.
