a Boy
W
ho influenced you as an
artist?
I had a lot of different influences. OutKast,
8-Ball & MJG, Quincy Jones. He[Quincy
Jones] influenced me as a producer. Dr.
Dre was an influence on me. My big
brother, too. My brother, Eugene
Wayne, is a producer, too.
W
ho gave you
your
start as an
artist?
My first
major
artist
that
I
worke d
with was Tela,
an artist with
Rap-a Lot Records from Tennessee. He was
the first artist I worked with that gave me
a chance. I also felt I made it when I first
produced Yo Gotti.
W
hat was your favorite song to
work on and why?
“ Here I Am” with Nelly, Rick Ross, and Avery
Storm. It was very important to me. It was the
first song that really showed my musicianship
and the first song when I used a live band on
top.
D
o you feel that the art of music production
is comprowmised with the advent of beats
being created on phones instead of through live
instrumentation?
I don’t think it’s such a big deal how beats are
made. I don’t know if it’s made music better
or worse. It’s an easier way to share music with
phones. I don’t trip off the new wave of new
technology. The most important thing about
production is just to have fun.
