BACK IN TIME AT ĠGANTIJA

It started out just like a normal school
outing: we were with our history teacher
in the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra. I was
trying hard to pay attention to what the
teacher was saying even though I was
already feeling extremely bored.
“The two temples now form a remarkable
UNESCO world heritage site with an
extraordinary history…” As the teacher’s
voice droned on I looked around the
largest temple until something caught my
eye. At the far side on one of the altars I
saw a perfectly round stone and what was
even more remarkable about it was that it
was glowing. Curiosity got the better of
me so I slipped away from the group of
students and picked up the stone. As soon
as I did so I was momentarily blinded by a
bright light and I could immediately sense
