VIOLENCE< TRAUMA, RESILIENCE -Smith For further reading: 1) Here is a little blog I did related to this theme that more fully fleshes out some of my views: Andrea Smith, “Decolonizing Trauma,” Faith in Ac- tion (blog), Sojourners, September 19, 2016, https://sojo.net/articles/faith-action/decolonizing-trauma. 2) Soong-Chan Rah, Prophetic Lament: A Call for Justice in Troubled Times (Downer’s Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2015). It speaks to the need for Christians to be able to witness pain without expecting simple solutions. 3) Bonnie Burstow, Radical Feminist Therapy: Working in the Context of Violence (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, 1992). This might not be an obvious book for Christians. But I found it very helpful in terms of its orientation toward survivors that really respects their agency and allows individuals to determine their healing journeys from where they are, rather than where people imagine they should be. 14
