Born in Johannesburg but now based in
Amsterdam, Jay is a self-taught tattoo artist
who creates ethereal, watercolour-like tattoos
completely freehand. He might come to the
table with a needle but he leaves behind any
sort of pre-conceived creative notions. His
technique speaks of a spirit of spontaneity but
the artists reveals that he is not a spontaneous
person by nature… this is an artist approaches
each piece with humility, conviction, and
