editor's letter
After receiving great feedback for our first issue, we’re proud to
give you issue 02 of Cult of Self Magazine. Our aim is to represent,
nurture and inspire subcultures that celebrate self-awareness
through visual style. For our new give away we’re making it about
you, your self-expression and your individuality – we want to see
all of that in a future issue of the magazine! So, on page 25 you’ll
find out more about #YourINK - Part 1, our exciting new tattoo
photography competition. You can win a professional photo shoot
with tattoo devotee Luke Daniel (we interviewed him on page 29),
you’ll take large-format prints home, get featured in an upcoming
editorial and receive Levi’s® icons gear!
For aesthetic entertainment, Laurent Nivalle’s Three Horsemen will
take you on a ride through café racer culture and Fulvio Maiani’s
Love Bug translates an apparent contradiction into harmony.
Beyond photography, we’d also like to let you know about who and
what’s out there when it comes to tattoos, bicycles, café racers and
skateboarding. Dustin Kott of Kott Motorcycles tells us about The
art of customizing motorbikes and on page 7 we weigh out the
pros and cons of the FlyKly Smart Wheel.
Then, we’d like to thank Levi’s® for their on-going collaboration in
everything self-expression and individuality – the mag wouldn’t be
possible without the independent-thought embracing brand. In this
issue, we take a look at the skatepark Levi’s® helped to build in
Bolivia and introduce you to a super rad, once-off Rick Griffin collab
collection that features rare drawings chosen by his widow and
artist Ida Pfefferle.
Enjoy the mag and we hope to see you soon! Maybe featured in a
future issue of Cult of Self Magazine?!
