Then the Good Lord in all of His bountiful Baptist wisdom , guided me into this Grand Universal Expanse of Divine Synchronicity at the same time as He did with Hootsie Bryant , Tom Prince , and Reed Prince . The educational platform needed to provide the essential support for the rest of my life was complete . All I have to do is live it !
As I travel around this beautiful country of ours , I see breathtakingly little evidence of these platforms exercising their wisdom and imparting their mastery to today ’ s children . Everywhere , I meet educated young people who are at a complete loss as to how to navigate their lives . I tell some of the stories . I am asked to tell more . You should write a book they say . I say that is easy for you to say .
I remember then , as a father , it is my grandest desire that my children might stand on my shoulders , take what I know and has served me , and make something better . I remember also as I had children , there were other children to love and there became no distance between the child and the grandchild and then lo and behold the great grandchild ! And wouldn ’ t just you know it , I see now there is no distance between myself and the grandchildren and the great grandchildren of others . And if I have something they can all stand on , then maybe I should , write the books .
Cullman , Alabama , came into my life in the mideighties . She was about five foot three and just eat up with cute all over . She was with a double car load of ladies that drove down to Birmingham from Cullman to celebrate somebody ’ s recent invitation to join into marital bliss . A ladies night out convention had coalesced right there in front of my favorite live-band country music bar stool .
My favorite beverage to consume while I listened to the band is straight up grapefruit juice . My love of country music goes back to Duke Rhumoor spinning those 45 ’ s on WYDE Radio . It was somewhere around that WYDE time that I decided that I should not take part in the consumption of alcohol tainted beverages . I had a knack at a very young age of getting into situations that required heaped up helpings of stupid to get me there . I made the observation that I did not need the voluminous additional supply of stupid that alcohol tainted beverages supplied . I could get by I surmised , on my personal stash of stupid just fine , thank you .
That bar stool afforded me the enjoyment of one of my other favorite adventures . I am a semi-pro girl watcher . I am a semi-pro because I could never quite make it to the professional level . I could never figure out how to get paid for girl watching and do it for a living .
