Designer Bag Bingo Successfully Brings in Donations

Squeals from the back of the room in Loft 212 . This was the sound that was heard as soon as a good Bingo was called . Designer bags , valued around $ 400 , were donated for the fundraiser and given away as Bingo prizes .
Mary Beth Sellers , an employee at Cullman Regional Medical Center , attended for the first time with friends and said she had a great time . “ This was really a great way to give back to our community while relaxing and having some fun ,” said Sellers .
Jaime Medlock , another first time attender , agreed . “ I absolutely loved it . It was great to be able to have a night out with the girls while also supporting a wonderful cause .”
Medlock said it was great to see the community come together and have events like this . “ And from now I ’ ll be looking forward to it every year . Bingo and designer bags …. it doesn ’ t get much better than that ,” she said .
The United Way Designer Bag Bingo was created by the Women ’ s United
Board , according to Executive Director Becky Goff .
“ Our Women ’ s United Board has some incredible volunteers who always roll up their sleeves and work hard to generate resources for this community that will leave a legacy of change ,” said Goff . “ Our hope is that through this fun ladies ’ night we will engage the women of Cullman County to join us in helping to raise funds to support our network of nonprofits .”
Women United was created to inspire and “ unite ” women in the spirit of philanthropy to build a stronger community . Through this event , women in Cullman County will help us to continue to raise financial support for local nonprofits .
Ladies were encouraged to bring a gently used purse filled with personal care items for a chance to win a raffle prize . The group was able to give back over 300 purses to local nonprofits that support women . “ We were blown away by the support and all of the items attendees brought to the last event . There were notes of encouragement , gift cards and lots of personal hygiene items ,” Goff said .
