Dear Seniors & Friends :
One year ago , Nov . 10 , 2020 , I was sworn in as Chairman of the
In addition , Cullman County has been awarded close to $ 1.5 million dollars in grants since November of 2020 .
For example , a $ 250,000 grant was awarded for paving County Road 4 and County Road 6 . Working alongside the commissioners and state and federal delegation is essential in getting more funds to fix the roads properly .
Clemons in his first year has accomplished just that .
An example of other grants received for repairs in Cullman County under Clemons leadership is a $ 500,000 grant awarded to update and repair dilapidated bridges and trails at the OHV Park , and an $ 800,000 CDBG grant awarded to upgrade the old rescue squad building .
Cutting wasteful spending and saving taxpayer dollars has made a significant progress with the Commission .
Let ’ s take a look at a letter from Jeff Clemons to Cullman County :
Cullman County Commission . I knew that taking on this role would be completely different than my 30 + years as a Deputy Sheriff . It is a true honor to serve the people of Cullman County in this capacity as Chairman .
We have had our share of challenges during 2021 , like the severe floods that damaged many roads and bridges .
I would like to commend all county employees who stepped up during those events . I would like to express my appreciation to all of you for the excellent work you do . Effort and hard work are paramount to our success and it is all of you that make what we do possible .
I think that we have made some progress during my first year on issues I campaigned on :
• The Commission allocated 2 million dollars to “ Restore Cullman County Roads ” fund
• Cutting waste & saving taxpayer dollars
• Transparency by being more accessible to employees and citizens
• Supporting our Law Enforcement Officers ( never defund the police )
I work every day to make Cullman County a better place for all of our citizens . I humbly ask for prayers and support .
