rompted by an intriguing
interest in his family’s
history, it’s no surprise
that Darrell Brock has already
published one book in a his-
torical series called The Black
Hawk and is nearly finished
with his second in the series.
“I have always been fasci-
nated by my family’s history because there
are so many interesting events and so much
mystery there; so much to be discovered and
shared,” said Brock. “That is why I have spent
so many years and so much time working on
this research. It is an effort to share our fami-
ly’s history and keep it alive.”
Many in Cullman County might rec-
ognize Brock from his years as a history
teacher, coach, and educator. He ended his
40-year-career as a principal at West Point
High School, then began venturing into
being a writer/author.
