Since its founding in August of 1877, First Baptist Cullman has undergone several physical alterations, starting with the building of the sanctuary in 1914 on the current property located at 501 2nd Avenue SW. A 42-room education space was added in 1942, while the current sanctuary was completed in 1952.
A new education building along with a fellowship hall and gym was added in 1962, and a two-story education building, nursery and pre-school facility were installed in 1993. A commons area and ROC multi-purpose facility was erected in 2009, followed in 2022 with a renovation of the fellowship hall and the addition of a children’ s wing.
In short, Cullman First Baptist’ s distinctive steeple won’ t be going anywhere anytime soon.
“ We’ re definitely part of the Cullman skyline,” said Carlin.“ We’ re a downtown institution and we’ re part of the fabric of the city. And it’ s not just us, it sure seems like a lot of the other churches are growing as well.”
