ROBIN WILDE
Nintendo have never been a company that avoids playing on nostalgia , and this month ’ s big announcement was no different . Fresh from hyping up players on a diet of a new Zelda game , the gaming giant has unveiled a new miniature NES , going on sale for £ 49.99 this November . The device , officially known as the Nintendo Classic Mini , comes with a controller and 30 in-built games , including RPG classic StarTropics as well as more well-known titles like the first three Mario games and Final Fantasy .
The miniature console is roughly palmsized , and comes with a USB cable to provide power , as well as an HDMI cable for connecting to a TV . This makes it almost portable , and certainly easy to take from house to house .
The downside for players hoping for some retro action is that the 30 games pre-installed are fixed , and can ’ t be changed or added to . On the other hand , buying this device is several times cheaper than purchasing the games for Wii U using the Virtual Console , even before accounting for the retro charm .
Pre-orders open soon , though statements about stock have been limited - so it may be worth getting in early to avoid disappointment .
