WELCOME
J
une is basically
Christmas for gamers, but we swap
presents for promises
of what's to come in
the months and years
ahead.
I've been watching
E3 since I was a wee
child and I am finally
old enough to survive
the Sony stream (which
traditionally
takes
place at two in the
morning).
We have a magazine full to the brim with
summaries and discussion of every important E3 event and announcement, from indie
game newcomers like
Fe to the latest installment in the immensely
popular Zelda franchise. EA, Bethesda,
Ubisoft and Microsoft
also weigh in, the latter
bringing the only new
hardware launch of this
year's show.
But we also focus
on other developments
in the gaming world particularly whether
VR is really the future
of gaming, and how
Creative
Assembly
have handled a fantasy realm in Total War:
Warhammer.
We dive into the
past to look at the old
maxim that a delayed
game is eventually
good, as Chris Olewicz gives us some examples of when that's
been true (and some
more of when it hasn't).
Plenty has been going on both at E3 and
outside it, so there's
plenty to sink your
teeth into and it looks
as though the year
will only get better as
it goes on. Until then,
we hope you enjoy this
issue of Cubed.
