NEW FACULTY

Muhammad Rabbani , M . D . Dr . Rabbani is an abdominal transplant surgeon and assistant professor in the UAB Division of Transplantation . He earned degrees in medicine and surgery in 2014 from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi , Pakistan , and he completed surgical residencies at Brown University , George Washington University , and the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio . He came to UAB in 2020 , where he spent two years as an abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary surgery fellow . His other areas of specialty include uterus and living-donor liver transplantation .

Dr . Rabbani is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons , the Rhode Island Medical Society , and the American College of Surgeons . In 2020 , he received the John D . and Deborah Heritage Endowed Award for Excellence in Transplantation .
Shana Machado , D . O . Dr . Machado joined the UAB Division of Nephrology as an assistant professor in May 2023 . She earned her medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013 , and she completed a residency at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in 2016 and a nephrology fellowship in 2019 at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston , where she also served as chief fellow . Dr . Machado completed a transplant nephrology fellowship at UAB in 2020 before serving in clinical roles at Dallas Nephrology Associates . uabmedicine . org / refertransplant 33
