According to an April 2022 news release from OSHA , food production workers in Wisconsin experience a nearly 24 % higher injury rate than workers in other manufacturing production facilities in the state . As a result of these preventable injuries , OSHA launched a Local Emphasis Program ( LEP ) seeking to improve compliance with required food manufacturing safety procedures . Industries covered included fruit and vegetable persevering and specialty food manufacturers , dairy product manufacturers , and animal slaughtering and processing manufacturers .
