DENTISTRY CONT. NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION This hands-on course is designed to prepare dental hygienists for the safe administration of nitrous oxide inhalation sedation for clinical practice according to Chapter DE 11.03 of Wisconsin State Practice Act. The course will cover: history, legal aspects, pharmacokinetics, safety and efficacy with administration and patient monitoring. The course includes a lab portion where the participant will participate in receiving and administering nitrous oxide. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion for 8 hours of continuing dental education. NWTC will be responsible for submitting the Nitrous Oxide Certificate of Completion form DIRECTLY to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services for state licensure. This is an in-person course with 4 hours of lecture materials and 4 hours for the in-person lab portion. Learning objectives: • Understand the properties of nitrous oxide • Recognize the indications and contraindications of nitrous oxide use • Demonstrate safe nitrous oxide administration December 14, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Cost: $375.00 MASSAGE THERAPY CUPPING MASSAGE Students will learn the equipment necessary to provide cupping massage and have a solid understanding of cautions and contraindications. Students will develop skills to provide cupping massage to all areas of the body safe and effectively. Learning objectives: • Students will list the contraindications of cupping massage • Students will compare and contrast the types of cups • Students will demonstrate cupping massage techniques on the back, upper extremity, anterior lower extremity, posterior lower extremity, and feet.
