CHANJI KIM has received an invitation from Professor Riccardo Santoboni, Professor of Music at the Music Conservatory of Frosione, Italy, to create music based on the themes of Koran poetry and literature. The concert will be performed by Korean performers of contemporary music on July 7, with a repeat performance in New York in October of 2018. The concert is part of the Summer Musical Season of the prestigious Academia Filarmoica Romana in Rome, Italy, which the South Korean Ambassador is expected to attend. Our College recently lost a beloved Melbourne Campus mathematics professor, DR. DEANN CLARE BOHM. Bohm began her teaching career with the College in 1993 while completing her Ph.D. at Florida Institute of Technology. She inspired many of her students and colleagues with her dedication to teaching and her love of life. She lost a brief battle with cancer and died August 11, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Bohm was born November 12, 1954 in Red Bud, Illinois. She loved to travel and spent some time living in Germany before she finally settled into her home in Satellite Beach. She had two grandsons, Chase and Lucas, and a rescue cocker spaniel, Jackson, whom she loved taking on long walks on the beach. Jackson was by her side at the time of her death. The Melbourne Campus Mathematics Department hosted a celebration of her life in January. A plaque was dedicated in her honor and now hangs on the third floor of Building 7 as a daily reminder to students, staff and faculty of this exceptional member of the EFSC community.
